Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Tāstium handles your information when you use the Tāstium mobile application (the "App"). The App is operated by Probably Edible Ltd ("we", "us"), the data controller. We aim to collect only what we need to run and improve the service.
1. Information we collect
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Account identity — user ID, email, display name, avatar | To create and secure your account and sign you in. Authentication is handled by our provider, Clerk. |
| Recipes & content you add — recipes, notes, ratings, cook history, serving preferences | To parse recipes, run your cooking sessions, and show your library and progress. |
| Voice input during a cook | When you hold the talk button, audio is streamed to a speech-to-text provider (Deepgram) to understand your command. We do not retain your raw voice recordings; only the resulting text is used to run the live session. |
| Photos you choose | If you import a recipe from a photo, or take a photo of a dish you cooked, that image is processed by our AI providers to read the recipe or generate feedback. We access only the images you pick. |
| Cooking narration audio | Spoken guidance is generated by a text-to-speech provider (ElevenLabs / Deepgram) and the generated audio is cached so the App responds quickly. |
| Social activity — profile, follows, "kudos", comments, dish photos you share | To power the social features. Content you choose to share is visible to other users. |
| Push notification token | A device token (via Apple Push Notification service) so we can send you notifications, such as new followers or likes. |
| Subscription status | Managed via RevenueCat and Apple to grant access to paid features. We do not receive your full payment-card details. |
| Diagnostic & product analytics (beta) | See section 2. |
2. Diagnostic & product analytics (beta)
Tāstium is in beta. To find bugs and improve the App, we use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to record how the App is used — screen views, in-app events, and session replays. Session replays are screen recordings of your activity in the App, and during beta they may include content shown on screen. This is linked to your account so we can follow up on issues. We do not use this data for advertising, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. When Tāstium leaves beta we will reduce what session replays capture and update this policy.
3. How we use your information
- To provide and operate the App and its cooking sessions.
- To authenticate you and manage your subscription.
- To run social features you choose to use.
- To diagnose problems and improve the product during beta.
- To communicate with you about the service.
4. Sharing & processors
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us run the App, acting on our instructions:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Clerk | Account sign-in & authentication |
| Deepgram | Speech-to-text for voice control |
| ElevenLabs / Deepgram | Text-to-speech narration |
| OpenRouter (routing to Anthropic and Google models) | Recipe parsing, narration, and photo feedback |
| Cloudflare R2 | Storage of images and cached audio |
| PostHog (EU) | Diagnostic analytics & session replay |
| RevenueCat & Apple | Subscriptions and payments |
| Apple (APNs) | Push notifications |
| Railway | Application hosting |
Some providers may process data outside the UK/EEA; where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
5. Retention
We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account from within the App, which removes your account and associated content, subject to limited retention required for legal or operational reasons.
6. Your rights
Tāstium is operated from the UK, and we handle your data under UK GDPR. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can delete your account in the App, or contact us for other requests. If you are in the UK, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
7. Children
Tāstium is not directed to children under the age of digital consent in their country and we do not knowingly collect their data.
8. Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified in the App or by email.
